Internation English Language Testing System  (Posted April 9, 2009)
IELTS International (International English Language Testing System) is looking for examiners as soon as possible to work part time Saturdays to support their testing center. Examiner positions available (undergraduate degree as well as TEFL/TESL certificate or EFL/ESOL related studies, or a degree in Education required.

Recognized Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree or qualification(s) that can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree
AND
• A TEL/TESOL qualification from recognized institution OR EFL/ESOL related studies completed as part of an undergraduate award course from recognized institution OR A degree in Education (if supported by an undergraduate degree which includes studies focused on English language at point 1 above)

Teaching Experience

A minimum of THREE years full- time relevant teaching experience (or equivalent part time) is required. Full time teaching is classified as a minimum of 14 hours of face-to- of face teaching per week.
If an applicant’s EFL/ESOL qualification is at certificate level, one of the three years full-time teaching experience must be post EFL/ESOL certificate qualification. If the EFL/ESOL qualification is at Diploma level or higher, teaching experience post EFL/ESOL is not required.
Exams are given to students once a month on a Saturday and hours may vary but normally begin around 12:00pm until 5:00pm.

Examiners are paid on a per test basis (speaking and writing).
All positions will need to be certified by IELTS International; training and certification are provided but unpaid (training dates will be given upon initial application)

We are seeking part-time, contract, experienced ESL trainers to provide individual lessons to our clients in Kihei, Maui.
 
This position is ideal for teachers who are passionate about language and sharing that passion with their students. We offer the opportunity to bring your individual teaching style in unique teaching environment:
  • We do not impose a curriculum on you. We give you as a language professional the ability to judge “on the ground” how to adapt instruction to a student’s individual needs and interests. You won’t be alone though, because we do have resources on staff to help you out.
  • Very flexible scheduling. You coordinate the lesson schedule directly with the client, but we encourage lessons 2-3 times per week for a minimum of one hour per lesson.
  • We reimburse travel expenses as well as expenses for books/materials you provide to the student.
  • Competitive pay per hour of instruction, paid on a 1099 contract.
  • Opportunities for more work in the future depending on availability.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual high-quality ESL language instruction to our client.
  • Regularly report hours of instruction along with lesson overview. Submit accurate expense reports and receipts for materials provided to student.
  • Evaluate and report student progress regularly.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years successful ESL teaching/training experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s in TESOL, Linguistics, Education or other advanced degree a plus.
  • Know how to and be willing to adapt teaching methods to students’ learning styles and needs.
  • Be located in or near the Kihei area. Can reliably meet at a location specified by our client.

ESL Instructors Needed

ELS Language Centers/Honolulu, located on the downtown campus of Hawai'i Pacific University, is looking for temporary part-time (with the possibility of full-time) teachers of English as a Second Language.

Classes are held in the morning and in the afternoon. We have a 12 level full curriculum, including courses in grammar, conversation, technology, reading and writing, and various electives. Our curriculum uses a communicative, learner-centered approach. Most of our students are international student visa holders and plan to pursue higher education in the U.S.

Openings for Instructors in English as a Second Language
Intercultural Communications College, is seeking excellent instructors for future part and full-time openings.  Ideal applicants will possess or be pursuing a graduate degree in ESL or a related field or have a Certificate and several years of overseas experience in teaching English to adults. Programs range from General conversational English development to Business English to exam preparation (TOEIC, TOEFL, Cambridge). Morning and afternoon positions are available, average 15-20 hours a week.  Pay scale ranges from $18.50 to $25 an hour.  After a probationary period, the school covers an individual medical plan for full time instructors.

Upon receipt of cover letter, résumé, and list of references, acceptable applicants will be contacted for an on-site interview. Observation and demonstration lessons are a mandatory part of the selection process.
