Conference theme: Exploring New Dimensions in Vocabulary and Grammar

The Hawai‘i TESOL 2022 Annual Conference will be online this year on February 19, 2022.

This year’s Hawaii TESOL theme focuses on two important and interrelated components of language learning: vocabulary and grammar. To help us understand these components, we have invited Eli Hinkel from Seattle Pacific University, USA to give our keynote plenary address. This year’s conference theme lends itself well to a variety of discussions, both theoretical and practical. We welcome proposals addressing any aspect of the vocabulary and grammar theme as it impacts language learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Hawai‘i TESOL is pleased to welcome Eli Hinkel as our plenary speaker. Eli has taught ESL and applied linguistics, as well as trained teachers, for over thirty years and has published numerous books and articles on learning second culture, and second language grammar, writing, and pragmatics in such journals as TESOL Quarterly, Applied Linguistics, Journal of Pragmatics, and Applied Language Learning. She is also the editor of the Routledge ESL & Applied Linguistics Professional Series of books and textbooks for teachers and graduate students. More about Eli at www.elihinkel.org
