Conference theme
The Relational Turn: Relationships at the Heart of Teaching and Learning
As developments in technology, communication, and emerging possibilities in language education continue to shape TESOL as a profession, the 2027 HI TESOL conference offers a chance to step back and reconsider a foundational principle: Relationships and human connection are central to meaningful teaching and learning.
We invite educators, researchers, and students to explore how relationships foster engagement, support belonging, strengthen communities, and contribute to the flourishing of both teachers and learners. We particularly encourage presentations on relational pedagogy, transformative learning, and human flourishing, with or without technological innovations and tools.
Together, we could consider what it means to place relationships at the heart of teaching and learning and how doing so might shape the future of language education.
